Love your work - so fresh, clean, spontaneous. I particularly enjoy the graphic qualities of the pastels and the oils - wow! I used to think landscape painting filled the need for souvenirs and decoration, but I have reversed my thinking. Now I too believe landscape is a wonderful tool for expression and your work is exemplary. Wish I could afford to buy all the images in the portfolio. Perhaps, someday, we might conduct an exchange.

You are a wonderful colorist and your statement is well worth heeding. I expecially love what I can't see in your work but am very aware of simply through your masterful handling of color and space. A fellow artist in the absolutearts.com family. www.artforyou.us

Hi Mark: I'm not sure if you are the Mark who signed my guestbook. I was thinking it might be you since I had replied to one of your blogs commenting about your paintings. Thank you for your 'mystical' remark about my landscapes. On a hunch, I went to AA.com works just uploaded and sure enough you have new works you just posted. So I found your AA page easily. These new works are particularly vibrant, lovely and lively. You are quite guileless in your work and that is a good thing to me; never too theatrical or glib. Wyrd's Well is wonderful. You are a great colorist. Congratulations. Cecil
Michelle
Wonderful paintings Mark!!! Thanks for all your help!!

Mark,
You have a wonderful sense of Nature that reads clearly through your landscapes. Robert Genn said in his last blog that, An excellent Quebec painter, Lorne Bouchard, once gave me some
advice. He told me that a painter needs to work from three
sources--from self-generated photo reference, from life, and
from the imagination. All painters, he said, favour one or
the other, but all three are needed to gain maximum
feeling--and this goes even for abstractionists and those
others who glean their motifs from their minds.
I don't know how you come about your art - but it works for me. The piece of the Red Shed is one I know will stick with my association to your work. Best of luck in the continuing journey.

Mark - Just received A Voice Heard and it is just incredible. The expression, the style, the colors - awesome. I've been searching for close to 2 years for a piece of art that speaks to me and this was it...pardon the play on words. Will certainly be looking for another. Thanks, Sheila
