Artist Statement:
I was born in San Diego, California, in 1918, and now live in Hill, New Hampshire. I have studied art at San Diego State College (San Diego, CA), Corcoran Gallery (Washington, DC), Colorado Springs School of Fine Art (Colorado Springs, CO), and Plymouth State College (Plymouth, NH). As a member of the New Hampshire Fine Arts Association, I have exhibited widely.
Although I work in the traditional arenas of landscape, portrait, and still life, my imagination and spiritual excitement comple me to colorful and unpredictable abstraction. I also have a passion for wood carving that has resulted in a number of large, abstract sculptures in butternut, cherry, and maple.
I just want people to get excited about color and life when they see my work.

Solomon You seem to excel in every medium you work in. The abstract paintings are rich in color and wild in expression. The still life paintings show your talent for capturing a special time and place. Wow! Very inspirational!
Ellen Stern Ms. Szwed-I am another artist, not a painter though, with a Premiere portfolio on this site. In browsing, I happened to come upon your work. I am beginning to want to learn to paint and your work is an inspiration to me in its variety, its broad range of imagination, use of color and line.Thank you for sharing your work.Sincerely,Ellen Stern, mosaic and mixed media artist
