Artist Statement:

From a philosophical
standpoint, all that we
perceive in the
world of form is an outer
expression of an inner
dynamic.
Though my work is
predominantly figurative, I
find it to be
the art of giving form to the
formless; ideas, emotions,
relationships, events. These
are by their very nature
intangible
and essentially abstract,
though they continually alter
and effect
our physical reality. We read
them through our intuitive
understanding of body
language, much as snow blown
about
on a winter’s day reveals the
invisible movement and form of

the wind. To ‘clothe’ these
subliminal qualities in human
figures
and bring them forth in a
sculpture, whether it be a
simple
figure inspired by a model’s
beauty or an allegory of our
human
condition, is the basic goal
and driving force in my work.

Artist Reviews:
My strongest impression
when I approach Bruce Naigles’
sculptures is the subtlety of
his pieces. The subject of his
work is often simple and
reveals to us an introspective
side of human nature. His
nearly minimalistic sculptures
manage to attract and keep the
attention of the viewer. As

Dear Sculptor,I am the Arts Programme Director for a non-profit organization based in London, The Humanitad Foundation, www.humanitad.org . Our focus is to promote inter-cultural and inter-faith tolerance among all world nations through music, arts, and education. One of the projects we are working on is the Monument to Mankind which I am coordinating. We are looking for one sculptor from each nation (192) to each design and sculpt a block of sandstone that will represent his/her country's heritage and culture. These blocks will then be constructed into a Peruvian-style stepped pyramid; it will be the largest internationally collaborated arts project in history and will be a universal symbol of human fellowship. The monument will either be constructed in Turkey or the United Arab Emirates in July 2002, contingent upon the world political situation. I found your profile on the Internet and I was wondering if you personally know of any sculptors that you could recommend for this project or if you, yourself, would like to participate? Please contact me if for an application form and details in Spanish if you are interested.I hope you apply as I think your contribution,

Sculpture of your kind is the greatest type there is. I love the human figure in any form of art and photography. I love your sculpture and I will use it to study to better my own artwork. Thank-you!

I'm not at all surprised that you have become such an excellent bronze artist. The first work I ever saw you sculpt was in Crete, the piece of marble which I believe still sits in Tasso's shop. You could see the passion there already!! Keep up the amazing work!!Paula

David Sandum
Bruce is not just one of the finest sculptors I've ever seen, but a fine person as well. We now have studios located next to each other in Moss, Norway, and I am very pleased, greatly inspired by his sense of detail, anatomy, and selection of motifs. Bruce is in my oppoinion, the most undervalued artist in our area, and I wish him the success and recognition in the future he deserves!Best regards,David SandumMoss, Norway

Your THREE GRACES, maquettes and large versions, are totally awesome. Did you study with Rodin ? I am on absolutearts also, but I am merely a painter.
