Artist Statement:
Since the beginning of last
year, my work has involved the
construction of paintings
based upon themes of identity.
In my work, I specifically am
interested in the development
and place of identity within
an environment structured by a
framework that is foreign to
the individual, but thrust
upon them sometimes
intrusively and often
unintentionally. These themes
are constructed on wood
surfaces bending, often in
opposite directions, with the
intent of creating something
that resembles a subjective
but yet objective place. The
infusion of the figurative
within this created space sits
in sharp contrast to the
collage of influence and
experience thrust upon them in
the painterly development of
the intrusive and
unintentional force within the
individual’s environment....
