Artist Statement:
I believe art should be an
honest expression of one’s
past and present life,
including the good and bad. I
have a natural tendency to
crop in close to my subject as
to isolate certain qualities.
I find that by simplifying I
can focus in on certain
qualities and character in my
subject. This helps me to
communicate what I am thinking
and feeling on the inside and
why. I try to build the
tensions and releases of life
through the use of strong
diagonal, horizontal and
vertical lines, intimacy
through the use color and
texture and
personality/individuality
through the use of unusual
angles and cropped images. I
see this as my version of jazz
and rock combined with
abstract impressionism. I do
what I feel inside and what
is natural, not what the art
style or what everyone else is
doing artistically. Working in
this manner allows me to think
outside of the box and create
unique works of art.
