Artist Statement:
When I realized the meaning of the law in art I could express the invisible sanctity of mountains and rivers.
This I, for many years was not born in the mountains, I did see them, but I left them alone. I saw them only with my eyes.
Now mountains and rivers let me talk for them; they were born within me and I within them. Mountains and rivers have met with the sacred in me and as the feeling grew and I finally brought them home to me.
Oceans have currents, mountains have currents too, only hidden.
As the sea has ebb and tide so mountains have mutual inclination. Mountains are nothing but the sea, the sea is nothing but mountains.
Mountains and sea also know that I have the right conception about them.
To have received the natural law of heaven and earth is the being essence of mountains and rivers.
To have this law for brush and ink is the way to represent mountains and rivers. Without this law they are but ink and paint.
He who knows about this rule but does not follow it for him the representation of the suchness and spirit of the mountains ...
