Artist Statement
"...While we regret that the present is not like the past and despair of its ever becoming the future, its innumerable inscrutable habits lie in wait for their meaning..."
Diane Arbus, 1963

Seeking help and advice from friends and strangers to design and build an apparatus to do just that, I realized that explaining the design of the apparatus was not a challenge. The materials used to build it were attainable and common. It was the logic and viability of its function that became incomprehensible.

Mathew Clay Freeamn Hi Wendy,
I saw Waiting for the Bear at the Fifth Year opening last night... It's a WONDERFUL piece of work -it left me feeling like I'm surrounded by tin-studs (which I am!) The overall experience was touching, profound and very ambiguous.
Good luck, I'm sure the judges are going to love it!
